16th birthday party ends with mom in the ER!
Mon, Mar 22, 2010
Ok, the two having nothing in common, except that after my daughter’s sweet 16 birthday and slumber party for 21 teen girls ended, I collapsed on the bathroom floor writhing in pain! My hubby rushed to my side and held my head in his lap for what seemed like forever. I then slowly crawled out of the bathroom, down the hall and into the living room. My daughter knelt down and started stroking my head as I cried out in pain and much prayer.
My abdomen hurt like the dickens, I broke out into a cold sweat, was extremely weak and felt very sick to my stomach. I gave her instructions on what to grab – not knowing how long I would be in the hospital: cellphone charger, blanket, jacket, socks and shoes, water and my purse.
I crawled the rest of the way out of the house, into the garage and pulled myself up into our truck. Hubby drove of course! At the ER, Nurse Nightengale helped me slide out of the truck and into a wheelchair, then she put me on a gurney and hooked my arm up to an IV.
Before the doctor had a chance to come in, my pastor and a friend from church arrived to pray and check in on us. Did we have bad chinese food just 2 hours before? Was it appendicitis? Kidney stones???
Maybe I was pregnant?!??? hmmm… the possibilities were endless!
Well, after several doctors and nurses popped in to see me and after pain medications were administered and xrays were taken…all the tests came back normal and negative. Which is good…but left us scratching our heads! We’re guessing a virus at this point -whatever the case, the pain meds are from God! They do make my brain a little fuzzy and things don’t connect as quickly as they normally would…so this morning, Life 89.1 listeners may have had a challenging time trying to make sense out of any point I was trying to make!
On the bright side?
It was probably nothing out of the ordinary for them!

Your brain is a little fuzzy from the meds? And that is odd????
Hopefully it was as simple as some not so good Chinese food. Praise God all is well.
Glad you are alright after going through that. I bet it scared the girls but at the same time, they sure were not bored. Thanks to our Father in heaven, it could have been worse and what a blessing to have a pastor and others come to the hospital to pray for you. Love ya,
At least you’re ok….Thank GOD for his healing!
Hey Laura,
This was my day for cruising my buds’ websites and what a surprise to come across your blog and read about that nasty trip to the ER. So sorry you were down. Hope you’re feeling much better and the your sunshine is peeking through the clouds again! Great site and blog. Congrats on the Ritz Carlton job, too! I’m looking forward to our future mastermind confabs. Take care!

Your radio show and Life FM has been an incredible blessing over the last three years for me. My eyes well up with tears thinking of how awesome God’s faithfulness has been during this period. He gave me Psalms 32:8- “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go, I will guide you with my eye.”
Many times during that period, God would have you play just the right song. We are all praying for you and looking forward to God’s answer for your future. Without a doubt, it will be awesome!!
